LSU and Coastal Carolina are two wins away from the national championship. One team will be a step closer after Saturday’s first game of the College World Series final, which is the number 6 seed Tigers and the no. 13-seed chanticleans set against each other in a jar’s duel.
Southpaw Kade Anderson (11-1, 3.44) of LSU when the rubber on coastal Carolina Right Cameron Flukey (8-1, 3.29) while fighting for an important first win in the best-of-three series. Those arms helped their groups to stay perfect in Omaha on their way to this weekend’s title series with 3-0 runs through their respective double elimination hooks. The victories of the Chanticlers expanded their finish line to 26 consecutive games, dating back to April 22.
The National Championship No. 8 is at the point for LSU, which would become the only program with four titles this century if it is the highest. Jay Johnson has already led the Tigers to the mountain top and was able to make it two titles in three years after leding the 2023 group to the CWS crown. Coastal Carolina is looking for his second championship and the first under coach Kevin Schnall, who is at the helm in his debut season.
