Omaha, Neb. (AP) – Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall and first base coach Matt Schilling were shot out on Sunday in Game 2 of the College World Series final against LSU.
The Tigers won 5-3 for their second national championship in three years.
Walker Mitchell was, along with two outlook on bat and Sebastian Alexander, stole the second base when Schnall went to the upper stairs of the dugout with three fingers, bore three fingers and started screaming at him.
The NCAA said Schnall protested balls and strikes, got a warning and threw out when he did not leave immediately. Instead, Schnall went to the field to argue.
“NCAA, which plays line 3-6-f-note 1, says that balls, strikes, half swings or decisions about situations with a hit should not be argued,” the NCAA said in a statement. “After a warning, any player or coach who continues to protest balls, strikes, half swings or a situation with a hit will be fired from the game.”
The NCAA said “prolonged arguments” result in a two -match suspension, so Schnall will miss the first two games of the 2026 season.
Schilling was thrown out for the comments he made while protesting. If an assistant is shot, he is automatically suspended for one match. Schilling also gets an additional suspension of two games under the ‘long -lasting arguments’ rule, the NCAA said. That means he will miss the first three games next year.
Co -head coach Chad Oxendine took over Schnall’s duties.
