The Tigers take Game 1 in the MCWS final 1-0 behind a jewel of LSU-Lefty Kade Anderson. He had a full nine innings and threw 130 stands with 10 strokes. It was only the third full match in the history of the MCWS final.
Steven Milam delivered the only run of the match in the first inning, but it was enough to combat the 26 games with 26 games with Anderson on the hill.
Coastal starting batsman Cameron Flukey also delivered on the hump, allowed six with nine ks and four strokes with one earned one. The 6-foot-6 judge took his second loss of the season and dropped to 8-2. His only other loss of the year was a 1-0 closure to Texas State.
The nine hits tonight bind the mark for the lowest joint hits in a MCWS final in history. Coastal Carolina was 0-by-9 tonight with runners in the standings.
In 2016, Arizona’s JC Cloney threw a full match against Coastal and took Game 1 from the MCWS final. The Chanticleers took the next two games to win the 2016 title.
It was the first MCWS match since 1972 that none of the team scored a run after the first innings.
Coastal Carolina and LSU will be in Game 2 tomorrow at 2:30 pm, where the Chanticleers will try to force a decisive match 3 on Monday night.
