Chicago (AP) – The legendary Cubs -Slugger Sammy Sosa returned to Wrigley Field for the first time in more than 20 years before Chicago’s afternoon match with the Seattle Mariners.
Sosa, which will be included in the Cubs’ Team Hall of Fame this year, arrived in a black SUV at the iconic North Side Ballpark. He was greeted by owner Tom Ricketts, who embraced him in a hug when he left the vehicle.
Sosa became the face of the Cubs franchise where he played 13 seasons after entering a trade in Crosstown White Sox in March 1992. A seven-time All-Star, hit 545 homers in 1.811 games with the Cubs and hit a franchise record 66 in 1998 when he was named the NL’s MVP.
Sosa, now 56, played his last match with the Cubs in Wrigley on October 2, 2004 when he had Home with an 8-6 loss against Atlanta. During his years with the Cubs, Sosa looked drastic and was a headlist in a generation of baseball’s biggest names associated with drugs that had performance improve.
In February 2005, the Cubs traded with cash to Baltimore for three players.

On Friday morning, Sosa posed for photos with Rising Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong outside the clubhouse of the team and a video showed in his office before the match Soca-Omhelsend Manager Craig Couneell.
“(Sosa) made the wind blow today and this journey around a good day plans to be here,” Couneell joked. “He asked to be in the series because the wind is blowing out.”
The Cubs honored Sosa with a tribute to a video order after the second inning. Sosa waved and bent against fans from a suite during the presentation.
In Thursday’s loss of 8-7 against Milwaukee, Crow-Armstrong went deep to set a new team record for 20 homers and 20-plus stolen stolen bases the fastest, and did so in 73 games. Sosa has the old brand of 96, set in 1994.
Couneell, who faces Sosa as a player, greets the former Slugger for his power on the board and long homers, as well as astronomy.
“Probably the best thing, Sammy was a real entertainer,” Counselell said. “I think if you’re long enough, you realize it’s part of this.
“We’re here too to entertain and I think Sammy was very good at it.”
