A hot air balloon carrying 21 people in Brazil Caught fire on Saturday morning and crashed, killing at least eight people, Santa Catarina’s military brigade said.
The crash occurred in Santa Catarina, a state in south of Brazil, after FirE He started in the basket, forcing the pilot to try to sit down, officials said.
The video shared on social media shows the black smoke that is balloon on the deflected balloon while damaging towards the land in a wooded area near the town of Praia Grande, which is known for hot air balloons.
The 13 survivors, including the pilot, were sent to hospitals with unknown injuries.

The survivors managed to live by jumping out of the balloon when the fire began for the first time, officials said.
At the beginning the balloon began to rise again some of the passengers had danced outside.
“These people ended up to die – four of the fuel, and four others were thrown out of the balloon when it was falling,” said Lieutenant Colonel Zevir Cipriano Jr.
“We’re in mourning,” said Santa Governor Catarina Jorginho Mello in a video on X. “A tragedy has happened. We’ll see how it unfolds, what happened, why it happened. But the important thing now is that the state structure can do what it can.”
He added that the authorities have been asked to “do as much as possible” to help victims and their families.
Three of the victims died hugging each other, said Santa Catarina’s civilian police chief, Ulisses Gabriel on social media.
“It hurts the soul,” he said.

Costing $ 100 per person, the trip was expected to be 45 minutes tall and reach 3,280 meters. It is not clear which height was the balloon when it began to fall.
“Despite all the necessary precautions and efforts of our pilot-which has extensive experience and followed all the recommended procedures in an effort to save everyone aboard the balloon-we are suffering from the pain caused by this tragedy,” said Sobrevo hot air balloons company in a statement.

Sobrevoar added that he had followed all the travel regulations and had a clear record before. He is now suspending his operations indefinitely.
About 25 to 30 hot -air balloon trips leave the area daily, the government said.

Brazilian Luiz inácio Lula da Silva expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims and said the federal government was available to assist in the investigation.

Last Sunday, another hot air balloon collapsed in the state of Brazil’s São Paulo, killing a woman and wounding 11 others.
