On Friday, the New York Yankees relief from Luke Weaver marked out of the injury. His first appearance was a situation with high leverage, something that Joe Girardi noted was not ideal. Viewers soon found out why.
With the score in Friday’s match against the Baltimore Orioles 3-3, Weaver was asked to stand in the eighth inning. The first batter he saw was Luis Urías. Urías averted both of Weaver’s first two stands, which brought the score to 0-2. After that, Weaver threw three consecutive balls. Before Weaver’s 3-2 offer, Girardi noted that he would be ideal not to use a jar in such a situation, but admitted that the options were limited.
“If a man doesn’t show up for 17 days, you prefer to give a little softer landing,” Girardi said. “But you can’t afford it because of the score of the game tonight.”
Urías rode the next pitch he saw from Weaver over the right field wall of Yankee Stadium and broke the 3-3 draw.

Within seconds, the exact scenario over which Girardi was openly concerned occurred. We will call it an inverted reversed Jinx.
Since Urías’s home field stands as the winner of the game (although the Orioles added another run), it is a rather unfortunate reverse Jinx for the Yankees and their fans.
