After the news emerged on Thursday that one-time future Saints primary owner, Rita Benson Leblanc, was arrested for assaulting a parking enforcement officer in South Carolina, we began investigating whether she owned another part of the franchise.

The question flowed directly from her statement in 2016 that it resolution of litigation Filed by Leblanc and other family members to wrestle the team of Benson, Leblanc Will continue to own a part of the team.

Initially, we asked the saints if this was still the case. The saints postponed to the league. And then the league rejected the comments.

The question flows from the basic reality that, if she owns a piece of the team, she is subject to the league’s personal behavioral policy. And given the apparent/protest double standard that applies to players and owners regarding the field misconduct, it is fair to wonder if her punishment, if any, will be in line with any punishment that would be addressed to a player who (allegedly) was involved in similar behavior.

None of this matters if she no longer owns a piece of the team. If she does not, it would be very easy for the saints and/or the league to say it.
