Oklahoma City – a visibly emotional Tyrese Haliburton was helped from the track after going off in the first quarter of the NBA final against the right lower leg injury Oklahoma City Thunder On Sunday night.
The Indiana Pacers Star’s father, John Haliburton, told ESPN Lisa Salters that it was an Achilles injury.
According to Salters, John Haliburton said his son seemed to be in a good spirit and looked at the game and root on his team from the locker room
Haliburton did not set weight and wrapped his face in towels when he was taken to the locker room for evaluation. The Pacers later announced that he would not return.
Haliburton, who played through a tense right calf, crumbled on the floor with the non -contact injury as he tried to drive to the basket with 4:55 in the opening quarter.
He immediately began to clap the court in frustration and stayed on the floor, as virtually the entire Pacers team surrounded him.
“It’s a sad man, man,” Pacers Center Myles Turner said Salters during an interview in the game after the opening period. “It’s a shame … but we have his back.”
Haliburton had nine points and hit 3 of 4 3 points when he was injured.
Despite having a calf tension in Game 5 of the final, Haliburton insisted on playing through the injury and said: “If I can walk, I want to play.”
The day before Game 7, after practice, Haliburton admitted that his leg was “still stiff, still hurt”, but he plans to play through it.
Haliburton, 25, had an after -season and led Indiana on his unlikely run to the final. In all four rounds, he hit a game-of-win-win shot in the final seconds, and the first player in NBA history does it in a single post-season.
He was an average of 17.7 points and a leading 9.0 assisted 46% shooting Sunday. His 197 -Assists were also a franchise record for a single after -season.
