Prayers go in to a fatal car accident with an Ohio State Buckeyes football legend Saturday morning.

A former Ohio State Buckeyes All-American footballer was allegedly involved in a fatal car accident in Dublin, Ohio, on Saturday morning. The accident allegedly happened around 3am on Saturday.

Kirk Barton, a former Ohio State Buckeyes All-American Lineman, allegedly crashed his Ford bakkie in another vehicle. Barton allegedly rode at high speed when he crashed into a Lexus in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. The manager of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes star was taken to local hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. He was later released into police custody.

Barton, 40, of the Lewis Center is suspected of driving a Ford F150 Raptor bakkie “at a high speed of the velocity” at US 33 before entering the historic Dublin just before 3am, and then beating a Lexus in West Bridge Street, just west of Franklin Street.

The manager of the Lexus, 24-year-old Ethan Perry, was pronounced dead at the scene. Barton sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later released in a local hospital in police detention.

According to Franklin County Court records, Barton has been charged with a second-degree crime count of aggravating vehicle manslaughter due to the driving of a vehicle under the influence.
